Freedom and adventure
For just over three years, Torgit and I have been touring all over Europe with our SpaceCamper, a VW T6.1. And now, as I write these lines, we are on tour again. On board are various conversions and accessories from Terranger.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Terranger?
When Heiko Ernst, Managing Director of Terranger Products, asked me this question, I had to smile. Because our answer today is certainly different to what he expected. Because Terranger, as the claim says, stands for off-road technology. So many people probably think first of vehicle technology and driving in extreme situations. And yes, we have also written a lot about this on our blog www.planBwagen.de.
But strangely enough, this was not my first thought. And not my second either.
The first image in my mind was the cliffs of Normandy.
And then other images, smells, emotions come to mind. Images of sunrises and sunsets, images of other cliffs, sea, lakes, mountains and valleys. Images of Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica but also images from the Pyrenees, the Western Alps, Greece and Germany. Images of magnificent trails and pitches, between horses, cows, pure nature.
What connects almost all of these places is the freedom of often having them all to ourselves. Because this was and is our dream. Because we are not cuddly campers and probably won't be anymore. What does that have to do with Terranger?
Much more than I could have imagined at the start of our trip. But from our experience there is only one chance to get to the few remaining, lonely places. You have to get to where others no longer go or can't go. For us, it's not about driving off-road as much as possible. It's about getting a few meters further at the end of the day without the vehicle being damaged.
We owe this freedom to Terranger, hence these lines. And yes, the products aren't cheap, but they're awesome! And yes, if you like, you can get really dirty with them, or deep into the water. That's fun too. Especially the faces of the people when you pull up to the ice cream stand with a completely muddy car. But the most important thing at the end of the day is the bees and sunsets. Sunset instead of Netflix.
